The US Forest Service said 1,000 pounds of furniture was dumped as part of a string of illegal incidents near Meadow Creek Road.

The U.S. Forest Service is looking for information regarding four illegal dumping incidents in the Sulphur Ranger District.
According to Travis Mason-Bushman, acting public affairs officer, during a week and a half stretch from mid to late November there were four incidents of illegal dumping.
The first occurred Nov. 13 when a camper was left in the area near Meadow Creek Road off of County Road 84. A witness reported seeing a champagne colored Suburban pull in around 2 p.m. with a trailer.
Officials with the Forest Service believe the next three incidents, which occurred soon after in the same area, could be related. The first dump was 1,000 pounds of furniture. The second was a couch in the same spot a few days later, and the third was construction material that appeared to be from a house that was gutted.
“I would like to say it’s an anomaly, but the unfortunate fact is this happens way more often than we like to think,” Mason-Bushman said.
He pointed out that illegal dumping takes time and money away from projects like trail work and road maintenance.
“Seeing people treating the land as a free dumpsite is really disheartening,” he added.
