Trail Ridge Road reopened, will close again tonight

Over six inches of snow fell in higher elevations in the park on Oct. 10. Trail Ridge Road has reopened, but will close again this evening.

Trail Ridge Road has reopened, but will close again at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Many Peaks Curve on the east side and Colorado River Trailhead on the west.

According to a release from Rocky Mountain National Park, the closure is due to the forecasted freezing temperatures, winds and precipitation above 10,000 feet. The conditions on Trail Ridge Road will continue to be evaluated daily.

Park snowplow operators have been clearing drifts of more than 3 feet of snow this week on high elevation sections of Trail Ridge Road from the storm onOct. 10, the release said.
