A rollover wreck outside of Winter Park closed US Highway 40 in both directions for a brief period of time Wednesday.

Two men sustained serious injuries in the wreck, thought their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. The two were taken to Denver Health, according to Fraser Winter Park Police Chief Glen Trainor.

Trainor explained the wreck happened when a white 2017 Dodge pickup truck was headed west on US 40, crossed over the center line and struck another white Dodge pickup head-on.

The westbound truck then hit the retaining wall and rolled onto its roof. Trainor said that drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the names of the two men hurt in the crash have not been released.

The wreck closed both lanes for a short period of time before authorities opened alternating lanes of traffic. They had US 40 cleared and completely reopened by 1 p.m. Colorado State Patrol, Grand County EMS and East Grand Fire District also responded.
