Winter Park opens Eagle Wind territory

On Saturday and Sunday, Winter Park Resort opened its Eagle Wind territory for the first time this season.

With a fresh nine inches of snow on the mountain, Winter Park Resort opened up its Eagle Wind territory this weekend. 

Beginning on Saturday and continuing into Sunday, the resort opened several trails in the Eagle Wind territory, which is known for its steeps and glading with only black diamond trails in the area. 

The resort teased the opening of Left Hand, Black Coal, Medicine Man, Little Raven and Thunderbird trails on Twitter Saturday. With these openings, the resort has a total of 146 out of 166 trails available to skiers and riders.

Since opening Eagle Wind, every territory at Winter Park Resort, with the exception of the Cirque, is now open with access from 22 out of 23 lifts in operation. 

Between Friday and Saturday, the resort received nine inches of snow to bring its season total up to 127 inches. 

Snow is next expected on Wednesday, according to OpenSnow.com, but will be significantly lighter with only one to two inches predicted.
