Winter Park Resort may have started its 80th season off with an early opening, but the resort isn’t done celebrating.

The resort is hosting a Cheers to 80 Years event at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at Sunspot Lodge at the top of the mountain featuring live music, a dinner buffet and a newly launched Mary Jane Ale in collaboration with Upslope Brewing.

“Bring your dancing shoes and raise your glass to eight decades of pioneering, history-making good times and great skiing,” said Jen Miller, public relations and communications manager for the resort.

At 80 years of operations, the celebration also marks Winter Park Resort as the longest continuously running ski resort in the state.

Headlining the event is one of Colorado’s best bluegrass bands, according to Denver’s Westword, The Railsplitters, who will play at 7 p.m.

The event is limited to 200 tickets, which are available for sale on Winter Park Resort’s website. The first 100 tickets are $99 and prices increase after that.

Tickets include a gondola ride, access to The Railsplitters concert, a dinner buffet at Sunspot Lodge, a commemorative pint glass and the chance to win prizes, including new skis or a GoPro.

For its 80th anniversary, Alterra Mountain Co., the resort’s parent company, invested $16 million in projects at Winter Park Resort, including a new high-speed six-seater lift in the Mary Jane territory.
