Today’s snowstorm is making travel across Grand County tricky with reports of slide-offs and car wrecks becoming more and more widespread.
At 3:30 p.m., Grand Fire had its crews working a wreck with injuries on US Highway 40 at Red Dirt Hill.
Authorities were telling drivers on the highway between Tabernash and Granby to expect delays with alternating lanes of traffic. Both lanes reopened around 4:10 p.m. There was no word yet the severity of the injuries.
Based on emergency radio traffic, there have a number of other minor wrecks and slide-offs reported to Grand County dispatchers since snow started falling.
A winter storm warning predicted snowfall ranging from 6-14 inches on areas including Rabbit Ears Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park, Berthoud Pass and Winter Park with high wind gusts making travel extremely difficult.
The snow is expected to continue into Tuesday morning, though the heaviest should subside sometime this evening.
