An incident worth retelling

In 1985 I left Aspen for a richly deserved Telluride ski holiday. It lasted until 2004 when I found it necessary to return to Ute City. Oftentimes, I would go to the Floradora, Telluride’s oldest restaurant for lunch. There was a young man who would sing and play the guitar outside.

He seemed not to be busking. He seemed to be practicing for something. He wasn’t very good. His name was, and still is, Billy Nershi, the founder and front man for The String Cheese Incident.
