According to an article in The Aspen Times on March 24, 1955, “Mr. Harold Deane, grandson of Judge Josiah W. Deane, left Chicago for Aspen with his wife and son, Tony, in September of 1938, and immediately purchased their T-Lazy-7 Ranch on Maroon Creek. The ensuing years brought growth to both family and ranch. Two boys were born here, Buck and Rick. Tony, the oldest boy, is now serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Devens, Mass. The T-Lazy-7 Ranch has grown from an ordinary place into the most attractive and best equipped operating ranch in this part of the country. During the winter season a small ski run with rope tow is situated in the back yard, so to speak, and flood lights make the night skiing a unique pleasure. Summers turn to horseback riding, fishing and pack trips into the most beautiful of wilderness areas, with timberline lakes scattered throughout. The ranch now has 175 head of horses and pack mules to fill the need of every individual whim or fancy — and so the Deane family goes forward.” This image shows people on horseback at the T-Lazy-7 Ranch in the late 1950s.
