Aspen police arrested a 29-year-old man last weekend after he allegedly stepped on a female friend’s neck and choked her, according to court documents.
Harold Maniloff III, 29, was charged with felony assault, misdemeanor obstructing an officer and domestic violence in connection with the incident, which occurred Sunday.
The victim told police she and Maniloff had been out in Aspen on Dec. 22 and became separated, triggering an argument, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed in Pitkin County District Court.
When the two arrived at the victim’s home, the woman said Maniloff continued to yell at her before throwing her to the floor and holding his foot down on her neck, the affidavit states. Maniloff then allegedly choked her with his hand, according to the document.
As he was choking her, the victim told police she thought, “This is it, I’m dying,” the affidavit states.
The woman said she was eventually able to push Maniloff down a flight of stairs and call police.
