Aspen school board: Nickell, Frisch pulling away in field of 6 candidates

In early election tallies announced just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday hold, Katy Frisch and Jonathan Nickell will be the next members of the Aspen School District Board of Education.

Early returns showed Nickell as the frontrunner among the six candidates with 885 votes, or 26.5%, cast in his favor. Frisch had 835 votes, good enough for 25 percent and second place overall.

Rounding out field are Jim Pomeroy (536 votes, 16.1%), John Galambos (473 votes, 14.2%), and Patsy Kurkulis (233 votes, 7%).

The candidates are running for the two open seats exited by Sandra Peirce and Sheila Wills, who are leaving because of term limits. School board seats are limited to two four-year terms.
