Bad crash in Glenwood Springs backing up traffic headed upvalley

A multiple-vehicle crash on Highway 82/South Glen in Glenwood Springs late Friday afternoon is causing traffic backups during the busy evening commute, and just as people are headed up valley for the X Games.

A photo of the incident posted on social media accounts shows two RFTA buses and several vehicles involved.

Traffic is backed up in both directions.

According to a Glenwood Springs Fire Department spokesman, that wreck happened about 4:32 p.m. at the north Walmart turnoff. The crash itself only involved one RFTA bus and six passenger vehicles. An occupant of one of the cars was transported to Valley View Hospital with minor injuries, the spokesman said.

The fire department indicated that tow trucks were on seen at about 5:20 p.m., and the area should be cleared shortly. The Glenwood Springs Police Department is investigating the incident.
