Business Monday briefs: Aspen, Snowmass set March occupancy records

Aspen, Snowmass lodges have record-breaking March

Aspen and Snowmass Village both had their best months of March with occupancy rates of 79.1% and 79.9%, respectively, according to a report issued last week.

Aspen’s occupancy last month was 9.6% better than it was in March 2018, and it also topped the previous record set in March 2017 when the town played host to the World Cup Finals, according to Stay Aspen Snowmass, the central reservations division of Aspen Skiing Co.

Snowmass’ March occupancy rate improved by 12.3%, and the month also marked its second best behind February, the report said.

Heavy snowfall in early March, combined with the timing of Carnival in the first week of March bringing in Latin American visitors, as well as the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic being held, were prime factors in the occupancy boost, the report noted.

The report also said that as of March 31, April bookings are up 14.1% thanks to group business, solid spring skiing conditions and The Apres Fest, a series of jam-band concerts held at the base of Buttermilk during the first weekend of April.

ACRA taking applications for market booth

The Aspen Chamber Resort Association is taking applications from its members to use the organization’s Aspen Saturday Market booth.

Each ACRA member is eligible to use the booth for one Saturday during the market, which runs June 15 through Oct. 5 in downtown Aspen. The booth will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with a $50 rental fee charge to participating members.
