The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Wednesday that the gates to the Glenwood Canyon bike path have been opened after recent repairs were completed.

CDOT will continue to monitor the path daily, according to a press release. In the event of bad weather, or if flooding from the spring runoff occurs, the path may close for safety reasons.

Cyclists and pedestrians interested in utilizing the path should frequently check the CDOT website for updates, according to the release.

Information on the path can be found on the http://www.COTRIP.org page under the Travel Alerts Tab/Statewide Alerts. Updates are also available via Twitter @coloradodot, or “like” the CDOT Facebook page.

Though the Glenwood Canyon bike path is open to the public, those wishing to hike Hanging Lake along the way will need to make a reservation and purchase a permit at http://www.visitglenwood.com/hanginglake
