Christopher John Maniscalchi

Chris lived a short, but active life. He was born in Trenton, Michigan, grew up in Redford Township, Michigan and graduated from Redford Union High School. Chris moved to Snowmass Village in 1981 after his sister Maria opened Mama Maria’s Pizzeria. He worked as the General Manager by night, enjoyed the life of a ski bum by day and explored all the adventures this beautiful valley has to offer.

Chris met his beautiful wife Julie at Mama Maria’s and he fell even more in love with the valley. They married and have two talented daughters whom he took extreme pride in. Becca graduated from the University of Wyoming in December 2018; Alyssa is a freshman at CSU.

Chris also worked for the Basalt Police Department for 10 years before leaving at the rank of Sargent to open Rhino Liquors in 2003. He was a very successful businessman. He was kind hearted. He would amuse his customers, friends, family and employees with the funniest jokes with his great sense of humor. His warm smile and humor allowed him to connect with so many different people. Chris was loved and cherished by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Chris was an avid lover of golf and his buddies called him “Scooch.” He worked out faithfully 6 days a week, enjoyed rafting in the summer and spent his free time celebrating with family and friends.

Chris spent his final days with his immediate family, surrounded by an infinite amount of love and endless prayers.

Chris is survived by his wife Julie, daughters Becca and Alyssa, mother Bertha and a large number of family and friends in the Roaring Fork Valley and many places beyond. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the “Maniscalchi Girls Benefit” at any Alpine Bank. A celebration of life will take place in the spring.

Chris wasn’t here for a long time, but he was here for a good time!
