There will soon by five Christy Sports locations in Snowmass Village, as the large specialty retail and service provider announced Thursday it is acquiring all four Stay Tuned Ski Rental locations.

According to a news release, the acquisition and rebranding of the four Stay Tuned locations in Snowmass stemmed from Christy Sports’ growth plan and desire to expand across the Rocky Mountain region, especially in Snowmass.

“We’re excited to grow our commercial presence at Snowmass, which is a key resort where our market share has been relatively low,” stated Matt Gold, Christy Sports CEO, in the news release. “Acquiring Stay Tuned Ski Rentals strengthens our footprint of locations in Snowmass to enhance our service offerings and convenience for our guests.”

Randy England, director of marketing for Christy Sports, went on to explain that the “cultural core alignment” of both Christy Sports and Stay Tuned Ski Rentals also contributed to the recent acquisition deal, as both retailers are centered on a family-based model.

England said the financials of the deal will not be disclosed, but that the longtime Stay Tuned Ski Rental owners, Mark and Linda Chapdelaine, do not plan to continue working with the rebranded locations.

“After meeting the team at Christy Sports, it was clear they had the same core values as we built for Stay Tuned Ski Rentals,” Mark Chapdelaine stated in the news release. “It was important to us that our shops would continue to not only provide a personalized feel but also have the tools to be competitive in the modern business landscape in Snowmass.”

The rebranding of Stay Tuned Ski Rentals is in the works and should be completed by the Nov. 28 opening day for Snowmass ski area, England said.
