Shred Hate, an initiative launched by ESPN at X Games Aspen in 2017, will make its third appearance in the Roaring Fork Valley Tuesday, Jan. 22 with visits to Basalt Middle School and Basalt High School.
Focused on bullying prevention, X Games hosts and commentators Brandon Graham and Hannah Rad will talk to students about it at BHS at 9:30 a.m. and BMS at 1:20 p.m.
This will lead up to Shred Hate Kids’ Day on Friday at Buttermilk Ski Area, home of X Games Aspen. The kids’ day event, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., will include appearances from X Games athletes Gus Kenworthy, Maddie Mastro and Mike Schultz, as well as X Games host Jack Mitrani.
According to a press release from ESPN, 20 Colorado schools have gone through the Shred Hate program, with 755 teachers and staff trained in bullying prevention, impacting over 11,000 students. More than 88,000 students have been impacted by Shred Hate nationwide.
