Looking for somewhere to take the whole family next weekend?
Consider the sixth-annual Family Hoedown at Cozy Point Ranch, where you’ll find live music, dinner, drinks and saloon games for adults, alongside a bounce house, Zorbs, a mechanical bull and a Eurobungy for older kids.
The Hoedown, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Aspen and Carbondale community schools, two K-8 charter schools operated by Compass, a Woody Creek-based nonprofit.
Fifty organizations, businesses and individuals have sponsored this year’s event with either cash or in-kind donations, and dozens of community volunteers will be on hand. After five years of practice and refinement, organizers say, the Hoedown has truly hit its stride as a Western-themed mini-carnival for all ages.
“It’s a family-friendly event that’s fun, safe and community-building,” said Compass Board President Jeffie Butler.
Tickets are $25 for everyone age 4 and older, and free for buckaroos 3 and younger. The Hell Roaring String Band will provide tunes, and Home Team BBQ will serve dinner. And the unique Jammin’ Jim will provide juggling, comedy, music and magic in one dynamic package. The event is expected to sell out again, so organizers are directing potential attendees to familyhoedown.org to buy tickets in advance.

As you browse the Hoedown website, don’t forget to click the “online auction” link, where you can bid on trips, gift certificates, meals, outdoor adventures and more from 250 local businesses. The auction began Feb. 5 and runs through 10 p.m. on Friday.
The Cozy Point Ranch is located at the corner of Highway 82 and Brush Creek Road, but parking is limited on site. Please park at the nearby Brush Creek Intercept Lot and board the free Hoedown Stagecoach to the indoor riding arena.
