Help the homeless stay warm this spring

It is the time of the year when the Winter Overnight Shelter at St. Mary Church is about to close March 31, and this leaves our clients out in the cold — literally.

We thank St. Mary Church for being such a gracious host for over a decade and we are asking community members to please contribute gently used or new sleeping bags, tarps and tents. We also welcome socks, snow pants, snow boots and other warm clothing to keep our clients from succumbing to the elements while it is still cold and snowing.

Please call 970-920-1342 to arrange to drop off your donations, or emailaspenhomelessshelter81611@gmail.com. You can also drop off donations daily in person to a staff member at the Day Center of the Aspen Homeless Shelter, room 107 in the Health and Human Services building, 405 Castle Creek Road on the Aspen Valley Hospital campus, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you come in person please make sure that you speak to a staff member directly (they have badges) to accept your donations.

We are grateful to the Aspen community for helping us to make sure that no one succumbs to the elements in our community!
