June Eastman Pausback, age 80, passed away on January 21, 2019, after a decline due to Alzheimer’s disease.
In 1960, while studying at the University of California, Davis, she married Bernard Pausback, the love of her life and adventure partner. They had four children. In 1967, they moved to Aspen.
June sold lift tickets at the bottom of Campground lift for over 20 years. To her delight, she started each day of work by skiing to her ticket shack.
June reveled in nature, using it as a channel to connect people and build community. She enthusiastically volunteered to lead outdoor education trips for the Aspen School District, including seventh-grade river trips, eighth-grade outdoor education, and the high school Ex-Ed rafting experience. During summers, she and Bernie partnered with the late Fr. Tom Bradke in leading church and community river trips.
