“Third grade music classes at Aspen Elementary School are combining art and music this month,” announced The Aspen Times on March 29, 1984. “The children are also exploring two art mediums and their relationship to music. They first created clay sculptures along the idea of contour or a line, and musical selections demonstrated color. Next week the children will weave and spin yarn, also incorporating ideas of music. The next week they will take a tour through the Wheeler Opera House while it is still undergoing reconstruction. Handling the programs for the students are Donna Medina, music teacher at Aspen Elementary, and Pati Anne Guzinshi, art teacher from the Aspen Council of the Arts.”

The image above shows 12 third-grade students participating in the program, 1984.
