Laura Teresa Sudmeier
and Daniel Dean Kapustka were married on Friday, Sept. 20, on a glorious fall
afternoon in Aspen. The bride and groom were born and bred in the valley —
Laura graduated from Aspen High School in 2011 and Dan graduated from Basalt
High School in 2009. The pair could be described as a match made in the
mountains; specifically, a match made by their mothers who introduced them. It
was love at first sight and the rest, as they say, is history. Over the course
of a two-year courtship, their connection grew stronger despite geographic
barriers as their careers took them all over the state though not to the same
places. They would road trip to see one another in Montrose, Ridgway, Basalt,
Telluride and Denver, before settling down together in Breckenridge. Laura is a
labor and delivery nurse at St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center and Dan is the
branch manager at Alpine Bank in Breckenridge.
Their
wedding ceremony was a traditional Catholic Mass at the recently restored St.
Mary Catholic Church with Father John Hilton as celebrant and Father Stephen
Siebert as concelebrant. The reception took place on site, flowing through the
outdoor courtyard and bright interior of the church. Chef Martin Oswald’s
Pyramid Bistro provided the dinner, the cake was made by Mix Cakery, flowers
were by Bloom Designs and the wedding photographer was Tara Marolda. Laura’s
father Pat Sudmeier, a professional photographer, also snapped a few images,
which are on these pages, and her mother, who is an architect, beautifully
drafted the footprint for the party during the planning stages. Following dinner,
the cutting of the cake and dancing under the stars, the newlyweds were seen
off under a sea of sparklers. They honeymooned in Hawaii on the island of Maui,
and are now back in Breck, starting their next chapter as the Kaputskas.
