On Saturday, Sept. 7, Aether hosted its third annual competition at Rio Grande Field — the Aether Games — benefiting Aspen Youth Center (AYC) and its free after-school and all-day summer programs. The lifestyle-clothing brand with boutiques in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Aspen supports the communities where it’s based. The field day competition featured favorites like tug of war, the sponge pass and sack races. With a change of roles, it was the adults competing on the field while the kids served as the referees. At the AYC, kids are at play while adults serve as chaperones and the cheering squad. This time around saw the grandest turnout to date with 24 teams representing Aspen’s best restaurants, the top three hotels, retail stores and more all in search of a bit of friendly competition. Each participant was presented with swag, a hot lunch from Home Team BBQ, beer from Roaring Fork Brewing Company and an after party at Jimmy’s bar and deck. Kenichi claimed the championship for 2019 with The Little Nell in a close second, though in reality, everyone was a winner as, after all, it’s really all about the kids.
