The Aspen Youth Center (AYC) presented its fourth annual Family Feud Aspen benefit on Friday, Feb. 7. The sold-out gala drew locals and visitors alike to the Hotel Jerome, with a cocktail reception in the Antler Bar featuring a silent auction and a chance giveaway to win an entire table full of wine along with a wine tasting for 10 at one of Aspen’s secret cellars. During dinner in the ballroom, MC Vince Lahey welcomed all, explaining the rules for Family Feud, before leading a paddle raise in support of AYC. When it was game time, the eight teams took turns competing against one another till the last one standing was Team Coldwell Banker Mason Morse, the repeat champions from last year.
According to Michaela Idhammar-Ketpura, executive director of AYC, this year’s benefit was a record year, raising 25% over the previous one. “The amount raised at this event allows us to cover full services for one year to over 300 of our 2,150 kids from Aspen to Parachute!”
The evening’s festivities and fundraising were all in the name of our valley’s youth from fourth to 12th grades who enjoy free after-school and all-day summer programming at AYC. While AYC is in the Aspen Recreation Center, it’s run independently and reliant upon support from the community.
