From exhilarating powder days — every time it snowed 8 inches or more, Skico celebrated with a free stack of powder pancakes at designated on-mountain restaurants in the morning — to lively après-ski gatherings, it’s been a spring filled with social flings.
On Saturday, April 6, Aspen Mountain was aflutter with occasions such as a ski day with the University of Colorado’s Aspen Alumni Chapter. Open to all CU alumni, fans and friends, the daytime base camp was Tourtelotte Park with a tent and a buffet. Afterward, all skied down to Shlomo’s for après. Coincidentally, Shlomo’s was the scene of a birthday party marking 50 years of Mike Steiner, a longtime Aspen local. Also sharing the après spotlight that afternoon, Bumble — the online dating app — was staging an event, passing yellow swag out with Bumble written in black block letters, getting the crowd to mix and mingle.
As for the Aspen chapter of CU Alumni, Mike Jahn, who has been the chapter president for years, is moving to the Midwest this summer. That means his spot is open and a CU alum can apply to carry the torch. Learn more about the program here: http://www.aspenbuffs.org
