The first month of the year in Aspen is one of my favorites for various reasons. Primarily, because the wide range of guests who come through start to finish bring a vibrancy to town and represent the broad appeal of Aspen to the world.
January starts off with a bang — literally — with midnight fireworks ushering in the new year and visitors from all over the world here for the holidays. Then comes the arrival of Australians spending a “summer break” in the Northern Hemisphere with many friends and family in tow having a ball with all of this snow.
Similarly, Brazilians trek to town for a ski holiday together — I personally love the sound of Portuguese on the slopes and at après-ski spots.
By the time Gay Ski Week rolls around, the population shifts again with guests attending the largest and longest running annual gay ski week event in the country.
As they depart, we welcome X-Gamers for action sports competition, industry events, indoor and outdoor concerts and more.
