T-Lazy-7 Ranch turned 80 this summer with a celebration of grand proportions, generously hosted by the Deane family, who has owned the beloved property and its year-round operations since its very beginning. Held June 8 from 2 to 8 p.m., and open to one and all, the grand affair welcomed nearly 1,000 guests to the breathtaking ranch meadow, peering out upon Pyramid Peak. The Double Diamond Band, joined by local musicians and friends, performed onstage in the afternoon while Whitewater Ramble played in the evening. Organized by T-Lazy-7 with support from Orion Events, the celebration included complimentary food and drinks prepared and served from cowboy cauldrons, outdoor grills, and clever beverage stations such as a vintage horse trailer barn while a sailcloth circus tent provided shade and comfortable lounge seating. Kids ran wild, as kids should in the summer, with painted faces, back and forth to a bouncy house and queuing up in line to ride on a mechanical bull.
As noted on the invitation, a raffle would take place at 5 p.m. sharp and was not to be missed. As all gathered for the grand-prize drawing, another momentous occasion took shape—and to the surprise of all but a select few. Besha Deane, who oversees weddings and events and much more at T-Lazy-7, had planned a surprise wedding of her own with her beau, Ryan Gervis. Even her dad, Rick Deane, had been kept in the dark for this exciting culmination to the event, happily taking his daughter’s arm to walk her down the aisle for the impromptu ceremony amid friends, family and even strangers. It truly felt like an “Old Aspen” day as many muttered, a time when all come together, a community feels like a family, and Aspen shines in its special way.
