The weather cooperated for a glorious 2019 Independence Day celebration in Aspen. The annual Boogie’s Buddy 5-Mile foot race drew more than 800 participants for the morning loop around town, starting and finishing in Rio Grande Park and benefiting the beloved nonprofit. With enough snow still blanketing the slopes atop Independence Pass, some even went skiing in the Fourth of July Bowl on the Fourth of July. At 11 a.m., Aspen’s Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade set off on Main Street, winding its way through the core with motorcyclists, fire trucks, floats and more taking part. The Aspen Volunteer Fire Department held its second annual family-friendly block party with Mountain Rescue Aspen and the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, lasting from 5 to 10 p.m. House parties popped up all over to close out the festive, fabulous holiday.
