Olympic gold medalist and world champion skier Bode Miller was in Aspen recently to take part in the opening festivities for luxury watchmaker Hublot’s new store downtown. Bode joins French professional footballer Kylian Mbappé, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, and Brazilian soccer legend Pelé as an ambassador for the Swiss brand.
A celebration took place on Tuesday, Jan. 28, with skiing on Aspen Mountain for VIP clients with Miller. That evening, there was an in-store ribbon-cutting ceremony and cocktail reception followed by a three-course dinner at the Caribou Club. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe and Jean-Francois Sberro, president of Hublot North America, were in attendance for the special occasion, along with several other executives from their boutiques around the world.
During the in-store event, guests had an opportunity to meet and take photos with Miller and peruse the collection of timepieces. Sberro welcomed all with a brief speech about the brand’s origins in 1980, which began with the highly original combination of gold and rubber. He then drew everyone’s attention to a vitrine, which faded from hazy white glass to clear, revealing the Spirit of Big Bang Rockies, the newest watch in the collection. Limited to 25 pieces, and designed for the stylish skier, it features a white ceramic case and blue-lined rubber straps, offering another chic take on the brand’s signature Art of Fusion.
The Aspen boutique will operate through the winter with a full selection of timepieces in addition to the exclusive special edition. It features a bar and lounge with evening trading hours. The seasonal boutique also supports Hublot’s position as the official timekeeper of Aspen-Snowmass, the mountain culture closely tied to the brand’s Swiss heritage.
