Mullins for mayor, Torre for council

I have a lot of respect for both Ann Mullins and Torre, but I believe strongly that Ann should be our next mayor. While I like Torre and sincerely hope he will be appointed to council if he isn’t successful in his mayoral bid, I believe that Ann is the leader we’re looking for. Her experience with the existing council is an asset, not a liability. She has the inside knowledge and the wisdom to know what worked, what didn’t and why.

As a result, she will guide this new council by setting a thoughtful and respectful tone. She is a great listener — a critical attribute of a good leader — knows how to facilitate productive dialogue between city leaders and community members, and is thorough in processing complicated decisions with humility and grace, thoughtfulness and attention to Aspen’s long-term vision.

I also really like that she is a mother and has raised two children as well as being the founder and dynamic leader of a medium-sized landscape architecture company. That makes her highly qualified to deal with conflict!

Ann’s leadership of the city, combined with the dynamic ideas and fresh approach that Torre, Skippy and Rachel can bring to the council, will be a true win-win for the community!
