Nonprofits ring in New Year with $30,000 in grants from Basalt

The Basalt town government said Happy New Year to 19 nonprofit organizations that were selected for a total of $30,000 in grants for 2019.

The town establishes a discretionary fund nearly every year and solicits applications for funding. A special committee selects the winners.

This year there were 37 applications for $72,600. The awarded grants ranged from $300 to $3,000. The selection committee banked $5,000 for special needs that may arise next year.
