Pitkin County voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly supported a tax on cigarette and other tobacco products, according to early results from the clerks office.
The tax would be similar to the one passed by Aspen voters in November 2017. The Pitkin County tax would start at $3.20 per pack and 40 percent on other tobacco products.
In early results, the tax was passing by a 77.9 percent to 22.1 percent (2,208 votes to 626 votes).
The tax would start Jan. 1, 2020, and would increase 10 cents per year until it reaches $4 per pack.
