Aspen girls lacrosse beats Eagle Valley 22-2 to improve to 11-0
The Aspen High School girls lacrosse team made easy work of another opponent on Wednesday, rolling to a 22-2 win over Eagle Valley (1-8 overall) in Gypsum. Kate Citron led the team with six goals.
The win improves No. 8 Aspen to a perfect 11-0 on the season. The Skiers will celebrate senior day on Saturday when they host Arapahoe (4-6) for an 11 a.m. game on the AHS turf.
The AHS boys lacrosse team (6-4) plays today at Grand Junction (9-1).
The AHS girls soccer team will host Roaring Fork today at 6 p.m. on the AHS turf. A win for Aspen would wrap up an undefeated league season. Sophomore Kelley Francis needs one goal to tie the program’s single-season mark, which she set last season as a freshman.
Basalt girls tennis gets first match win in program history
The Basalt High School varsity girls tennis team beat Class 5A Grand Junction’s junior varsity team 4-3 on Wednesday, the first match win for the Longhorns in program history. This is only their second season at varsity.
Mari Elliott won at singles for the Longhorns in the No. 1 position. BHS also won at 1 doubles (Hannah Miller/Courtney Hassell), 2 doubles (Itzel Esparza/Lesly Cruz Hernandez) and 4 doubles (Paola Martinez/Liz Abarca).
