All classes in the Roaring Fork School District, which includes schools in Basalt, are canceled for Friday because of the current snowstorm, the district announced Thursday evening.
“Due to inclement weather conditions, all Roaring Fork Schools will be closed tomorrow, February 7. All after-school and building activities will also be canceled,” the district announced.
The valley area remains under a winter storm warning until early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 30 inches of snow is expected at higher elevations during the warning. Nearly a foot of snow fell Thursday in parts of the Roaring Fork Valley.
Aspen School District officials will make a decision by 5:45 a.m. if there will be a snow day that day, according to the district’s policy.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
