Saloon Night will support Basalt High School athletic programs

The Saloon Night fundraiser to benefit Basalt High School athletic programs will be held Saturday at Two Rivers Cafe in Basalt.

The doors for the third annual event in this format will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 for individuals and $60 for couples.

Tickets include food, soft drinks and games. There also is a cash bar. There will be several auction items, including a pass to the Aspen Food & Wine Classic. There is no money attached to the chips, which participants are given when they walk through the swinging doors.

The event is hosted by the Basalt Athletic Department as a creative way to raise funds for the school’s various programs. This year’s recipients are the girls basketball team, track and field, and the boys and girls tennis teams.

“We have fundraisers so that the teams can buy that extra equipment, hire a extra coach or send athletes to camps as a group,” said Sean Nunan, Basalt High School athletic director. “Some teams fundraise by selling gold cards, participate in the Ducky Derby, sell mattresses or have email blasts sent out to parents asking for donations. Saloon Night is different in that it reaches out past the athletes parents and friends, and into the community to invite them to join us for a fun night.”
