The Colorado Department of Transportation has shut down Interstate 70, one of the nation’s busiest east-west conduits, in both directions from Airpark Road to the Kansas state line as a bomb cyclone hits the state.

The storm triggered multiple accidents, making many Colorado roads and highways nearly impenetrable.

In addition to indefinite I-70 closure, all bus rides to and from Denver on Ride Bustang have been canceled as of 12:30 p.m. “It is no longer safe to operate.”

Many police departments across the state have sent out blizzard survival tips, urging people to carry emergency kits with them if they venture out into the formidable weather.
