The Holidaze

It’s here — the buzzy, seemingly nonstop holiday season filled with parties, performances and campaigns, plus many a benefit to help those in need. Fitting it all in is a challenge unto itself with oh so many reasons to gather together at the end of the year.

A few celebrations of late include an annual luncheon hosted by Krista Klees and Palladium Properties. Klees started a tradition named Palladium Promises in 2016 as a way to bring friends and colleagues together for a holiday lunch while also raising awareness and funds for local causes. The Nov. 30 event highlighted five very deserving organizations — The Hope Center, Bridging Bionics, Superhero Moms, WindWalkers and Aspen Youth Center — with a collective total of $13,963 raised.

On Dec. 2, Klaus Obermeyer marked his 99th birthday with friends, family and fellow staff of Sport Obermeyer Ltd. He was also surprised with a special gift when Aspen Sojourner’s editor-in-chief, Cindy Hirschfeld, presented him with the Carson White Snowsports Achievement Award from the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.

On Dec. 6, the Hunter Loft Opening Party took place in a beautiful new event space downtown. Hunter Loft encompasses the entire second floor of the Core Building set on the southwest corner of Hunter and Hyman. Event partners Aspen Branch, Aspen DJs, Casa Tua, Halcyon Productions and Event Rents created a festive ambience for the debut of this new private event venue.

Over the weekend of Dec. 7 to 9, new luxe boutique Olivela, which just opened on the Hyman Avenue mall, hosted a social influencer trip, inviting several special guests for an #OlivelaXAspen getaway. Offering a “socially-impactful shopping experience,” Olivela features fashion brands such as Stella McCartney, Missoni and Helmut Lang with a substantial portion of each sale earmarked for girls’ education worldwide, as well as local charities.

On Dec. 15, Miller Sports hosted its annual holiday party at its 498 S. Hunter St. shop, presented in part by Aspen Magazine and Stranahan Whiskey with chef Greg Topper serving up savory appetizers. Generations of skiers stopped by to socialize and browse the winter collection of hard goods and apparel in the store.
