All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth: “This Year Is Marking The End Of the ‘Last Young Renegade’ Cycle”

“It’s time, you know?” – Alex Gaskarth

All Time Low are set to headline Slam Dunk 2019! We caught up with frontman Alex Gaskarth in the current issue of Rock Sound to talk through where the band is at, what’s one the horizon, and basically what’s happening in the world of All Time Low.

Speaking about their 2017 album ‘Last Young Renegade’ and whether their appearance at Slam Dunk would mark the end of the album cycle for them, Alex shared  “You know, it’s been interesting because I kind of felt like the ‘Last Young Renegade’ era was over in the middle of last year, mid- 2018.”

He continued “Actually we were pretty much ready to wrap it up around the time we were doing the UK arena shows, even earlier, in March. We had one more US tour and then that was supposed to be that. But then, we put those songs out, ‘Birthday’ and ‘Everything Is Fine’, and even though they weren’t necessarily part of that album, it felt like they gave the record another kick, a little boost.”

But it looks like All Time Low are in a position to properly bring the curtain down on the ‘Last Young Renegade’ era this year, with nothing else planned for 2019 “I feel like this year in general is marking the end of the ‘Last Young Renegade’ cycle. It’s time, you know?”

He continued to share “But what’s cool is that Slam Dunk then becomes its own thing, it’s like this floating island. Because we literally have nothing else on the calendar for the year, this is really it as far as what people can expect from All Time Low. All I can really say is, it’s just these two shows in May.”

So basically if you want to catch All Time Low in 2019, it looks like Slam Dunk is your only chance.
