Hear Charli XCX Recruit Lizzo for Bouncy New Single ‘Blame It On Your Love’

Charli XCX and Lizzo have teamed up for the upbeat, lovesick new song “Blame It On Your Love.” The track is XCX’s first new release this year.

“Blame It On Your Love” was originally heard in the more minimal Pop 2 closer “Track 10.” On the new incarnation of the track, a beat reminiscent of Lumidee’s “Never Leave You (Uh Oh)” underlays a tale of being “reckless” and “selfish,” as XCX describes herself in her relationship. Lizzo joins for a rap-sung guest verse towards the end of the song. “I’m tryin’ to catch millions/Not tryin’ to catch feelings,” she says at the end of her verse.

Since dropping two mixtapes in 2017, XCX has been unveiling a steady string of new singles including “Girls Night Out” and the Troye Sivan-assisted “1999.” Last year, she joined Taylor Swift on the singer’s Reputation World Tour.

Last month, Lizzo released her major label debut album Cuz I Love You. The LP was her first album to chart on the Billboard 200, reaching Number Six. Recently, her 2017 single “Truth Hurts” entered the Hot 100 after being featured in the film Someone Great, becoming her first single to chart.
