John O’Callaghan Has Shared The Emotional Story Behind The Maine’s New Album Title ‘You Are Ok’

The Maine frontman John O’Callaghan has opened up about the story behind the title of the band’s upcoming seventh album, in response to a fan message.

Their new album ‘You Are Ok’ is set for release March 29 through their own record label 8123.

In response to a fan message thanking him for the album and the themes around it, John posted on Instagram the reasoning behind the title, sharing “I decided to name this album those three small words for no better reason than to speak to myself. Selfish as it may be, I need to hear those words often, and if they somehow resonate like they did with this someone across the world then I accidentally did at least a little good while I was alive. Moral is, words are more powerful than ever, use them with the utmost care. “

He also reflected on how these messages still mean a lot to him, because he remembers what it was like early on in their career, sharing “There are no words that can describe the feeling I get when I read something like this. I haven’t forgotten the days on MySpace, where someone simply replying from California to one of our messages would get me excited. Now, having been allowed the opportunity to take our music around the globe and talk to people of all walks, that excitement and has been multiplied exponentially. Certain events in this life have this funny way of making you feel alone, when in reality that aloneness is shared by every other human being on earth. “

He ended his post by sharing “you will make it and you will be ok”.
