Mark Hoppus On The Upcoming Blink-182 Album: “It’s Darker In Theme And Tone”

More details are emerging about the upcoming Blink album.

Details are now flying in from all directions about the new Blink-182 album.

Off the back of Travis Barker revealing over the weekend that they’d already recorded “over 40 songs” for the new album, now Mark Hoppus has weighed in on the musical direction the album has taken.

Speaking with NME, Mark has shared that the upcoming Blink-182 album is “very different to ‘California’… It’s a lot more aggressive. It’s darker in theme and tone. If you liken ‘California’ to ‘Enema Of The State’ then this album is more like the untitled record where we are trying to experiment more: trying to experiment more, trying different sounds, and trying to expand upon what people think Blink 182 is.”

Mark’s description of ‘experimental’ certainly matches up with their producer team – it was revealed earlier this month that they have three teams of producers working on the album – John Feldmann, Pharrell Williams and the Futuristics.
