Matt Skiba On Blink-182’s Upcoming Album: “There Are Blast Beats On One Of The Songs”

Wait- what?

Details about the upcoming Blink-182 album have been coming through sporadically, but the most recent revelation has us genuinely intrigued.

In a recent interview for his other band Alkaline Trio, Matt Skiba shared a little detail about the upcoming Blink-182 album- and it isn’t what you’d expect.

When Alkaline Trio vocalist Dan Andriano joked that Blink would have to change their name because the tracks he’d heard were black metal, Matt shared “There are actually blast beats on one of the songs – Travis did that for me.”

Blast beats is a drumming style which is usually associated with black metal and death metal- so basically, not typically in pop-punk.

Which probably all makes sense given that Mark Hoppus previously shared about new Blink music that “it’s really aggressive and really catchy and dark and weird.”

Earlier this week Blink-182 cancelled an upcoming festival appearance scheduled for May due to being in the studio working on their new album. So basically, it’s all happening and new Blink music is properly on the horizon now.
