REPORTS: A Leeds Festival Attendee Has Died

Sad news from Leeds Festival this afternoon.

An attendee of Leeds Festival has reportedly died shortly after 03:40am at the Bramham Park site, a representative of the Police has shared.

The BBC report that the 17 year old girl passed away in the early hours of this morning, following a suspected drug overdose. 

The Leeds Festival police commander, Supt Matt Davison shared in a statement that the exact cause of death was yet to be established, however it appeared that the girl had “taken a combination of drugs”. He continued “Our thoughts are with the family of the girl who died.”

A representative of Leeds Festival, Melvin Benn, has released a short statement, which you can read in full below:
“To say we are deeply saddened about this tragedy is an understatement. West Yorkshire Police have taken action against those that may have supplied the drugs, and we will continue to work with them as usual. I would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone attending Reading and Leeds Festival that there is no safe way to take prohibited drugs and there are no safe prohibited drugs.”
