Ariana Grande makes a pixie-dusted cameo appearance on a new episode of Kidding, the Showtime series that stars Jim Carrey as a children’s series host in the midst of personal tragedy.
The show is now in its second season, and Michel Gondry — the acclaimed music video director who previously worked with Carrey on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind — directed both episodes that aired on Sunday night.
Grande plays Piccola Grande, the Pickle Fairy of Hope, on an episode that is staged exactly like an installment of Carrey’s in-universe show, Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time. She appears for a pair of musical segments which, as Stereogum‘s Tom Breihan notes, are right now the closest we have to a Michel Gondry-directed Ariana Grande music video. (We’re adding that to the top of our music video wishlist.) One features a Broadway-style number, “Stick Together,” with Carrey and Catherine Keener, and another is a solo ballad by Grande.

Grande spent four years at Nickelodeon before she was a pop star, so she’s unsurprisingly great in these. When she made the announcement last August that she was appearing on the show, Grande wrote on Instagram, under a photo of her and Carrey embracing: “Nothing is crazier than getting to work with and spend time with someone whom you’ve idolized and adored since before you could speak. Actually, what’s even crazier is discovering that person to be more special and warm and generous in person than you ever could’ve imagined.”
Carrey currently stars as the antagonist Dr. Robotnik in the movie Sonic the Hedgehog, in theaters now.
