Judas Priest Announce 50th Anniversary Tour

Following their North American tour last summer, Judas Priest have announced a 50th anniversary tour, titled 50 Heavy Metal Years Tour.

The band — which formed in Birmingham, England, in 1970 — will kick off the tour at MGM National Harbor in Maryland on September 9th. They’ll hit major cities, including the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on September 15th and the HEB Center in Austin, Texas, on October 5th. They’ll conclude in Las Vegas on October 17th.

“Judas Priest are primed and ready to deliver the goods with our 50 Heavy Metal Years anniversary celebration stage show spectacular!” the band said in a statement. “Performing a blistering cross-section of songs from our lives in metal — we can’t wait to raise horns with you again at this once in a metal lifetime event!”

Judas Priest released their eighteenth LP, Firepower, in 2018. “It’s a reference to the power of metal,” lead singer Rob Halford told Rolling Stone of the record. “Firepower is the great worldwide cause of the heavy-metal community — the firepower of metal. It’s inspiration. It’s hope. It’s overcoming difficulties. It’s a metaphor for winning and overcoming evil.”
