6 Vail Valley hot spots for brunch

Brunch is served on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vintage in Vail.

If you’re not much of a morning person but you love breakfast foods, brunch is the meal for you. Brunch is a difficult meal to serve — a balance between breakfast and lunch dishes is a must, bringing the sweet and the savory is a given and wedging it in the exact right time of day to satisfy until dinner is no joke, either. If you’re not in the mood to put together those puzzle pieces all by yourself, here are just a few of the places around town that’ll do it for you:

Vintage

Voted the best brunch in Vail in 2018, Vintage has a truly eclectic menu. There’s traditional fare like pancakes and the classic American breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, jam and potatoes), but you’ll also find more unorthodox offerings like mussel frites and the veggie smashbrown Benedict. Choose to pair your sweet or your savory with one of over 20 brunch cocktails including bloody Marys, mimosas and so much more. Brunch is served at Vintage on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Westside Cafe

An undeniably large menu means a healthy heap of brunch options — Westside Cafe is well aware of that. A surprising variety of pancakes and waffles, some truly unique skillets, healthy fare and dishes with a south-of-the-border twist all grace the menu, but it’s their brunch favorites that take the cake. Choose from classics like corned beef hash or steak and eggs, or go with a cornbread waffle or a toad in a hole (no toads are harmed in the making of this dish — it’s just eggs, toast and sausage).

rancheros, eggs benedict and French toast are among the options. However, if you’re not one for making decisions, they’ve got a buffet as well, featuring eggs, potatoes, bacon, smoothies, quiche and much more.

The Little Diner

A Lionshead staple, The Little Diner has a not-so-little menu with breakfast served all day, and lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. Find savory in a breakfast sandwich or omelet, or satisfy the sweet tooth with a crepe or some comfort food — and that only covers the breakfast side of things. Burgers, sandwiches, sides and a kids menu make for a well-rounded meal.

Village Bagel

It’s not just about the bagels here, people. Signature dishes like the Game Creek bowl (quinoa, sweet potato, chia, hemp, arugula salad, avocado and

Maya

Like many of the resorts around town, Maya offers a breakfast buffet, but this one stands out for its hearty omelets and stick-to-your-ribs eggs your way. If that doesn’t make your tummy rumble, perhaps the blueberry orange granola pancakes will tickle your fancy. Wash it all down with a “morning cure” like a pina flora Picante or mezcal sunset.
