All invited to 2019 Women’s March on Sunday (letter)

On Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., the Women’s March will take place at the Vail Covered Bridge

The 2017 Women’s March inspired hundreds of women to run, millions more to vote and dozens to win elected office. The 2019 Women’s March marks two years of continuing activism, mobilizing millions of women across the globe for change. In 2019, we continue to navigate a political landscape that has experienced its fair share of trauma that is deeply rooted in racial, gender and economic disparity

Who should march? Everyone. We need the support of people from all walks of life to make a big impact. Men are absolutely welcome and encouraged to join in. Children are welcome, too. This is a family-friendly event. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are also welcome.

What to bring: Ultimately it’s up to you bring whatever you need to be comfortable. Consider bringing warm clothes (hats, mittens, scarf), water or hot beverage, comfortable shoes, signs, your cellphone, hand warmers and snacks.

Signs: There are no rules about signs. Be creative in addressing your most pressing issues. Some topics to consider: the government shutdown; immigration and refugees, reproductive freedoms, the increasing deficit, environmental issues, education and health care, sexual harassment, workplace and childcare issues, criminal justice and police brutality, LGBTQ and marriage equality issues.
