Bomb threat email causes scare across Vail, Beaver Creek area businesses

A bomb threat email has been sent to numerous individuals and businesses across the Vail Valley.

Officers from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and Avon Police Department were sent to two lodges in Beaver Creek and Avon, respectively.

Tracy LeClair, public information officer for the Eagle River Fire Protection District, said officers, fire crews and ambulances were sent to Falcon Point in Avon and the Poste Montane in Beaver Creek. No one was being allowed into those areas, but neither property had been evacuated as of about 12:15 p.m.

LeClair said lodge employees and emergency responders were following bomb threat procedures established during annual drills. No devices had been found as of about 12:15 p.m.

“At this point, we’re attempting to identify whether a threat actually exists,” LeClair said.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information arrives.
