Charles (Charlie) P. Brown Jr was born on December 11, 1936, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He died on April 25, 2019, at the age of 82 in Grand Junction, at the Veteran’s Hospital following an extended illness. Charles was one of three children born to Charles and Rose Brown. He was a lifetime resident of Glenwood Springs. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 through 1961.
Following his honorable discharge from the military, Charlie attended Mesa College (now Colorado Mesa University) from 1963 to 1965. Charlie earned an Associate in Arts Degree. Charlie was a talented artist and was particularly skilled in pencil sketch portraits and scenic painted landscapes from the area surrounding Glenwood Springs.
Charlie was employed for the majority of his career by Saint Stephen’s Church and School. He was a man of devout faith to the Catholic Church performing over the years many services for the Church. Charlie was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Barbara and Regina. Charlie died loving Jesus, his faith and his Church.
A lifelong Catholic, a Funeral Mass will be held at St Stephen’s Catholic Church on May 9, 2019; a Rosary will start at 10:00 am with Mass to follow at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Stephen Catholic Church Capital Campaign, 1885 Blake Avenue, Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601.
