Crested Butte is now on the Epic Pass so we headed over to see how it’s doing

MT. CRESTED BUTTE — Things were different back in the good old days.

When it came time to hit the slopes, my wife and I bought discounted lift tickets at the local supermarket. Prices were less than what a slope-side burger-and-beer lunch costs these days, and we could choose any ski area we wanted.

With daily lift tickets at major resorts today costing more than my wife’s first car, we now buy annual passes. That means we’re pretty much limited as to where we ski.

It’s been years since we’ve carved turns down some of our old standby ski areas. One of those former favorites was Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

Recently purchased by Vail Resorts, the slopes of Crested Butte are now covered on our Epic Passes. With the early season flakes falling fast and furious, we headed back to the Butte to renew an old friendship.
