Restaurant robbery
A man in a man bun allegedly robbed a Glenwood Springs restaurant Sept. 28, and was identified Oct. 1 after police posted his picture on Facebook.
The restaurant owner called police on Oct. 1 around 9 a.m. and reported that an iPad, speakers, microwave, ice machine, and pots and pans had been stolen. The owner had surveillance footage showing a young man in a man bun leaving with the items.
An anonymous source identified the suspect after police posted screenshots of the footage online.
When police arrived at the man’s house, they saw the missing speaker easily visible through the window of a parked car.
Inside the house, residents shown photos by the police ID’ed the man as their son.
The suspect told police he had taken the speaker, as well as soda and $5, but knew what he did was wrong and planned to turn himself in, according to the affidavit.
The police arrested him.
Enticement of a child
A 48-year-old man was arrested Sept. 29 for allegedly talking to an 8-year-old boy with an autism spectrum disorder about touching his genitalia.
A West Glenwood gas station employee called around 5 p.m. to report a man harassing customers, according to court documents.
The suspect had been loitering around the store all night, according to a Glenwood Springs Police officer.
The 8-year-old and his father had stopped at the gas station and noticed the man. They left, but returned to the store for snacks, the father told police.
When the father went inside, the suspect approached the RV and was seen talking to the boy. The clerk told the father that a “weird guy” was approaching the RV where the boy was.
The father told police that he went outside, and as he approached the RV he heard the suspect say the word “penis.”
The father became upset and shoved the suspect away. The boy was visibly distressed, and due to his autism could not describe what happened, according to the affidavit.
The suspect told police that he was “absolutely not” talking about body parts, and that he was “just saying hi” to the boy.
The suspect was arrested on charges of enticing a child, a class 4 felony.
Trespassing in a cop’s house
A 28-year-old man walked into a Silt Police officer’s Rifle house, apparently high on several drugs, and walked out with trespassing, burglary and weapons charges.
Rifle police were called to the off-duty Silt officer’s house around 6 p.m. Sept. 29. When they arrived, the Silt officer, who was home with his wife and children, said the young man had entered the back door of the house claiming to work for an energy company.
The Silt officer wasn’t expecting any electrical work.
The wife asked what the man was doing, and he said he was there for an electrical job and tried to go upstairs.
The off-duty officer contacted the young man, according to documents.
When Rifle police arrived, the young man told them he was blacked out on Etizolam, which can have hypnotic effects in high doses, and Smirnoff.
He told police he didn’t know how he got to the house.
Rifle police found methamphetamine, four small bottles of Smirnoff, one empty, and hallucinogenic drugs TCB and DMT, and brass knuckles in the man’s pockets.
He was charged with burglary, trespass and possession of a dangerous weapon.
